Practice Sessions
A practice session is a role-play with an AI buyer. Here is what happens from the moment you press start, and what each mode expects from you.
Before You Start
Every session opens on a start card. It tells you which mode you are in, how many messages the session allows, and how many criteria you will be measured on.
Get set up first:
- Use headphones. The buyer speaks out loud, and headphones stop your microphone from picking that audio up.
- Allow the microphone. Follow the setup steps below before a voice-only session.
- Read the scenario. The panel beside the conversation shows the scenario, your playbook and the persona you are about to talk to. Click the buyer's name or avatar at the top of the conversation to open their profile.
- Check the criteria. Click the criteria chip on the start card to see what a good conversation looks like before you begin.
When you are ready, press Start. The buyer opens the conversation, and the session runs until you save it or reach the message limit.
Get Your Microphone Working
Select Start, then choose Allow when your browser asks for microphone access. In Chrome the prompt drops from the left of the address bar; in Safari it is a dialog under the toolbar.
In your browser or system sound settings, choose the headset or built-in microphone you want to use. Salesably does not have its own device picker.
When it is your turn, select the microphone and speak. Listening and your words appearing in the conversation confirm that speech is being captured.
No prompt, or access already blocked? Once a site is blocked the prompt never appears again, so turn it back on yourself:
- Chrome: select the tune icon at the left of the address bar, then set Microphone to Allow (Site settings opens the full list if it is not shown).
- Safari: the Safari menu → Settings for This Website → set Microphone to Allow.
- Still blocked: macOS System Settings → Privacy & Security → Microphone, and switch on your browser itself.
The Start button returns automatically once access is restored.
If you see We can't hear you, check the selected input, its mute switch, and whether another app is using it, then try again.
Practice Mode
Practice is turn-based: the buyer says something, you respond, and so on. It is the mode to use while you are still learning a scenario.
- Listen to the buyer. Their reply plays out loud and appears in the transcript.
- Respond in your own words. Tap the microphone and speak, or type your reply. Say what you would say on a real call, then send it.
- Go hands-free when you want the rhythm of a real call. Press the hands-free button beside the microphone and just talk: the buyer answers as soon as you pause, and there is no button to press between turns. Press the close button in the message box to go back to tapping or typing.
- Use your resources. The playbook, scenario notes and buyer profile stay open beside the conversation the whole time, hands-free or not. Read them whenever you need to.
- Get feedback as you go. With Receive feedback switched on, you see a short note after each of your turns. Switch it off on the start card if you would rather practise uninterrupted.
- Keep going until the end. The control bar at the top counts your messages. The session ends when you reach the limit, or earlier if you press Save.
Practice sessions are not scored. Run one as many times as you like.
Scored Mode
Scored mode is the assessment. It runs hands-free, and at the end the conversation is scored against the criteria your studio set for the scenario.
- Voice only, no pauses. Your microphone stays on and the buyer answers when you stop talking. There is no text input.
- Resources are locked. The playbook and buyer profile close during the call, so read them on the start card before you begin.
- Every turn counts. The whole conversation is evaluated, so treat it like a live call from the first word.
- Save to see your score. When the session ends, or you press Save, the conversation is scored and your result page opens.
If an assignment sets a passing score, you pass when your total meets it. Some criteria are marked must-pass: scoring below the required level on one of those fails the attempt even if your total is high.
Finishing and Reading Your Results
Press Save in the control bar to end a session and keep it. You will be asked to confirm, then taken to your result page.
On the result page you will find:
- Your transcript, so you can reread what was said.
- Feedback on each criterion, with what went well and what to work on next.
- Your score, for Scored sessions only. Practice sessions show feedback without a number.
Other controls in the bar at the top:
- Mute silences the buyer's voice. The transcript still updates.
- Fullscreen hides everything but the session.
- Start over clears the conversation and any unsaved result so you can try again.
Saved sessions appear under My Results, where you can watch your scores change over time.
